Hi guys,

I'm in the process of buying a M57 Limited Edition Lum-Tec. This brand is absolutely new to me. I have read a bit here on this forum.
Are all LT limited editions in one way or another? As I understand it, LT have made 200 M 57's, what is the usual number LT will produce of a non LTD watch?
Not that it matters much, I buy the watch because I like it, not because it's a LTD edition.

The 300M version 1 and 2 aren't limited but I still doubt they will reach much more than 1000 units each, so basically almost all Lumtec watches are limited.

Oh and btw if your M57 says E011/200 on the back its a fake because that's mine.

+1 on the "almost all LTs are limited."

Lum-Tec is a small, service-oriented watchmaker, and I'm hoping it continues to bask in obscurity until Chris hits 50 years old, after which I hope The Swatch Group purchases the company for about $100 million or so.

BTW, the watch I'm buying is from a private source. It does have the Certificate of Authenticity signed by Chris, so it should be OK. I take it these watches are not sold as fakes, given the low number of real copies made?

You can check if anybody here has an identical serial no as yours but I seriously doubt it would be fake if you have the certificate of authenticity signed by Chris.

Thanks guys!
How does the free battery replacement work? Just find a dealer and get it done (are there any dealers out there apart from online dealers?), or do I have to send it somewhere to get it done?
Lum Tec will replace the battery for life, but you HAVE to send it in to LT headquarters (Sector 7) to have that done.

"All that just to replace a simple battery," you ask?

The answer is YES, and deservingly so.

The battery replacement by LT involves much more than just replacing the battery. They also check/regulate the timing, replace the seals, and pressure test it to insure that it's water-tight. Your average joe-jeweler, or the kiosk worker in the mall, will not do that. Plus, it is my understanding that there are quality differences in batteries. LT uses a premium battery, made of solid gold, with a working life of 5 years or so.

Okay, I lied about the gold part, but it IS a premium battery, nonetheless.

I should also mention that returning your watch to LT for battery replacement keeps your warranty in effect. Allowing a non-LT person to break open that case-back and tinker inside your watch could create warranty issues should, in the future, something dire go wrong with your beautiful LT timepiece.

The thing with limited is that doesn't mean they wont produce a watch that looks very similar to yours with a very minor difference somewhere down the road. For instance there a few watches that look close to an M57.

True but that doesn't lessen the fact it and all are limited production runs and unique in one way or another.
