My Tissot seastar (cal 781-1) is in dire condition! It is off by up to 20 minutes a day, and the error is not systematic.

  • In dail down position i get pretty good readings on the timegrapher app (rate: 2 sec/dag, amplitude: 311, beat error: 0.1 ms.
  • In crown up i get too slow a beat rate (-25 sec/day) and low amplitude (187 degrees) but very little beat error (0.2 ms)
  • In dail up position I get a “snow storm”, i.e. no useful reading at all.

What could these readings indicate? A problem with the balance staff?

The watch was serviced in 2019 but has taken quite a beating since then.
