Hi, I will only purchase near mint models yet I have come across this Art deco Bulova that looks like it has been through the wars.
It has a 10AN movement and needs crown and ste, the movement needs a clean and the case could do with a clean and polish. I think this watch has character and m very interested. I can pro get it for around €60.00 US. I dont know whether stem and crowns are easy to get and the cost.
I would welcome your opinions please as to whether you would take on this cheap old girl or walk away. I would estime it could end up costing me perhaps €100 to €120. TIA. jack

Bulova 10AN working movements & parts are fairly easy to find on eBay and they come in 4 different flavours; 7, 15, 17 & 21 jewels. All of which are interchangeable with each other so it means a relatively cheap & easy upgrade as well as additional parts if needed Dial looks to be in good nick as does the case. It's probably one i would take a flyer on.

Also, I'll look thru my spare parts and see if i have a stem & crown that works with that movement.

Hi Mikey, Many thanks for the info. I have lookd on ebay but cant find crowns, stems or hands under the monement 10 AN. I am prob putting in wrong search info.
The watch is 15 jewels and certainly looks like it needs to go in the dishwasher.
Should you have a crown and stem I would be most grateful and can pay with paypal if the suits you. I have found a guy who does hands and a little man who can clean it. I might end up with a half decent cheap watch. Thanks again for your advice and help. jack
Just do a search for 'Bulova 10AN' on eBay. There are at least a half dozen posts for hands and its probably just as easy to buy a working or non-working movement and remove the stem & crown from it and keep the rest as spare parts.

I haven't checked my stash of parts yet but will do so later this evening.

Many thanks Mike, did what you said and up it popped. I shall need a pair of black or blue hands as well so looking for those as well. Who do you use for bulova parts may I ask. Most seem to be in the US but postage high even for such small and light items. Ebay UK have the bits but again are US listings. thanks jack

Postage is high all over so there isn't much to be done about that. When i needed vintage Bulova parts i either checked eBay or went over to the MyBulova.com forum and put in a request there. Occasionally they came thru for me but most of the time it was simply eBay.

Thanks Mike. The sellers in the US must be making a tidy profit on postage. There cant be many items that are as small and as light as watch hands. I think like you, it will have to be ebay. I want to try and find a guy that can provide stem, crown and hands all under one postage. Thanks for your help. jack
Hi Jack. I think i have everything you are looking for (stem, crown and a set of hands). I also have a spare case (Lone Eagle?) and dial. PM your mailing address to me and I'll send them to you free gratis.

Cheers!

Hi Mike, I cant believe my eyes. You are so generous and I really appreciate your very kind offer, but I really must insist on paying you for the postage and the items. There is no reason for you to be out of pocket. Would you be kind enough to message me with a figure and I shall make a paypal payment forthwith, assuming that method is acceptable to you. regards jack

No cost whatsoever. I have someone else here in this forum who has generously provided me with a couple of items at no cost to me and I'm simply paying this forward. If I come to Spain next year you can buy me a beer.

Hi Mike, I sent what I thought was a PM and trust it reached you and that the destination was acceptable to you. regards javk
hi Jack. I did send back a response last night to you. Today is a postal holiday (seems like most days are here in Canada) but I'll send it out tomorrow to the address you requested. Should take 7-10 days via a Canada Post canoe to cross the big pond.

Hi Mike, Many thanks, I cant find your message but there again I cant find mine that I sent to you. I really should stick with my colouring books. A sincere thanks again to you and the other generous member for all the items. Spain is just as bad as Canada, every other day is a religious holiday. Ah so canada uses canoes, the UK uses pidgeons and Spain uses donkeys.
I hovered the cursor over your name and hit on "message" in the drop down box into which I typed the message. Where will your message be please Mike. Just think how dangerous I would be if I had a brain......kind regards jack

There should be a small dot on your icon in the top right corner of your screen. If you click on it you should get a drop down that says 'Conversations' and thats where it will be.

Hi Mike, My sister tells me the items have just arrived at Bristol in the UK. I dont know as yet when she will be bringing them to me in Spain. Its like being a kid on Xmas Eve.
I cant thank you and the other member enough for your kindness and generosity. I hope he reads this post but in any event please pass on my sincere thanks to him. Does he wish for anonymity. I propose to take some pics of "before" and "after" and shall post them when complete.
Sincere thanks again. Warmest regards jack.
