I work with a guy who bought a DateJust when he graduated college 32 years ago. He wears it almost everyday. It runs and looks great. A small crack in the crystal is all. I asked him how often he gets it serviced. He said 5 years after he bought the watch the AD serviced it for $350.00. That was it. It hasn't been serviced in 27 years! It runs great. If that is a testament to how all Rolex's are made, I'm impressed!

Quite a few watches can keep time accurately while slowly corroding away on the inside.

27 years is nothing. I know a watch enthusiast who owns a vintage Bulova Caravelle that hadn't been opened in 45 years. Kept good time.
