I have an Illinois Viking with a three piece case and 307 movement. The winding stem is loose and remains in the setting position and won't snap back into place. I am able to push the crown in to wind with no problem. Wearing a watch that sets itself is a problem! Any help would be much appreciated.

Actually there are images of this watch on this site from last year. Just look up Illinois Viking. As for a good watchmaker, I usually do my own work. This looks simple enough, but I am not sure if I am missing any parts or not. Unlike many pocket watches the sleeve does not have any threads. I have no idea how the sleeve is held in place or where to get parts. Otherwise I will have to find a watchmaker. Any place I have checked into farms there work out. I would rather communicate with the person doing the repair.
