Our resident Military Watch Guru Stan has truly been a one man
wrecking machine when it comes to sparking the interest in classic military
timepieces... his creations are just eye-popping and I have been lucky
enough to have some in my collection...

I really never got into the military aspect of Illinois, but have slowly added
some pieces along the way as I talk with Stan, and Fred too.
When I come across an engraved version in Original condition, with
military provenance...
My Heart really pounds and I grab it.

This little badboy showed up today:

YGF Cushion with Military engraving on the caseback

Capt. A.W. Mierow
From Co. "L" 550th N.L.T.
5-16-18

Full Damaskeening on the movement
and an original patina "Sparkle" dial.

Will see what info I can find later.

SO, you're the one who beat me in that auction ! ! ! ! LOL ! ! ! !

That really is a nice piece Greg!

I'd say about 9 out of 10 times when you see one of these Illinois Watch Case Company cushion trench cases it's made of sterling silver.

The "GIANT" Gold Filled versions are much harder to come by.

And is still has the orginal factory crown too boot!

GREAT ACQUISITION ! ! ! ! !

Let us know when you find out more about the owner.

Thanks Stan! I thing it is fantastic! To find one of these in
Yellow Gold Filled is quite a treat! You never see them in this
Color... They all seem to be in sterling or base metal.

Rob has found some cool info on the previous owner!
Will have him post soon!

Greg,

Just looked through all of my pictures from the years and I could ONLY find TWO of the Gold Filled Cushion Trench cases made by the IWCCo.

Both still had the original GF factory crowns (very lucky).

So, they are quite hard to come by !

Joesph Fahys & Company also made a 10k Gold Filled cushion trench case. "Montauk"

This one is just a bit larger as it's a size 0s, the edges are just a TAD more rounded along the sides of the case compared to the Illinois version.

Just realized that there are 4 different gold filled cushion trenches in this thread and ALL 4 have a different dial style !

What are the odds of that ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
