Most of my automatics are 28'800bph = 8bps/4Hz.
Does the second hand move every beat, or does it take a whole turn to move the second hand?

After reading that post it seems every beat moves the second hand. Twice for each full cycle / hertz.
Yep. Consider what is happening - With each tick, the escape wheel is released by one pallet stone to turn just a little, till it is stopped by the other stone, so the movement creeps forward just a little.

OTOH, the Hamilton Electric used the balance wheel to drive the hands, so that it only moved once for each cycle, or 2 1/2 times/second. Looks funny after you're used to 5/sec!
