Hey Guys

Survey time. :001_smile:

Some of you may be avid users of winders. I'm not of that fraternity I'm afraid and have always kept my watches in their boxes. As I usually only ever wear one watch at a time I suppose a winder might have served me well in my " auto only " days but I always preferred to put my money towards a watch than a box that wound watches.

My trusty watch box for night use for over a year now has been the familiar red Omega travel case. It's not robust by any means. It's definitely not indestructible but the foam inserts ascertain that my watch is kept scratch-free and safely tucked away in the night. And of course, its' size and dimensions allow easy storage and positioning. By the latter, I mean it permits me to store my Speedy Pro crown up or down, dial up or down indeed too.

How about you pals? What do you use?

Talk soon pals and y'all be well now

"Other - Please Specify" for me.

When I'm in the house they line up on a three tier shelf that is also home to my various watch related collectables and trinkets.

When I am out they get put in a safe in their original boxes. Somehow, I don't find this a chore at all.

"Other - Please Specify" for me.

At home mine (the four watches I own) line up on a felt lined shelf.
When I leave home for an extended period of time they are stored in the safe in their original boxes.
When I travel, the one I take, is in a velvet type pouch when I'm not wearing it. That way it can go in the hotel room safe easily.

I keep mine in a drawer (my underwear drawer, truth be told:biggrin:), but that's probably not ideal. Where's a good place to get a watch box, say one that holds 5 watchs or so?

Other... I leave them all in a drawer in by bedroom, which is about 2'' deep and about 2 feet long. Of course I felt-lined this drawer. Perfect for laying watches across. My collection is about 80% autos and I do have a winder but I think it's a pain in the but to put the watch on and take it off. Would rather just wind it when I need it.

Tricks

You do this everyday :eek:hmy:

Man, it's like making a daily pilgrimage to a shrine :lol:

No offense intended pal

Yep, everyday. Unless it's a Saturday or Sunday and I've remained in all the while.

And no offense taken. It's all part of being a WIS and knowing that there are people (if I can use the word to describe these low-lifes) who will happily steel these cherished, and mostly irreplaceable, items without consideration for the heart ache it would cause. Sad but true.

You sound like a man in need of the Marine 1932 amigo :biggrin::biggrin:

It keeps well in water as I understand

" The first rudimentary tests were conducted in 1936 and records bear out the robust qualities of the seal leather strap and its' ability to withstand water damage after a period of three weeks in sea water ".

Here's my shrine...

Whilst I understand why some people may feel the need to lock their valuables away in a safe, I think it's a shame that items of beauty (to me anyway) are tucked away in the dark instead of being on display to be enjoyed but then, that's my choice...
