Well I have no idea who to ask but the short story is that my aunt gave my grandpa a watch, he didn't like it because it was too heavy so he gave it to my dad who doesn't wear watches so now I have it. As silly as it sounds, I want to find out what type of watch it is so I can figure out how to use it.
I've included some pictures below. The ring rotates 90 degrees to cover up the crown. The seconds are read off the right sub dial and the red second hand does not move (or i havent noticed it moving). And finally I have absolutely no clue as to what the left sub dial does. There are some numbers engraved in the side of the watch and something engraved under the strap saying "0EGOD". I believe it is an automatic watch, the kind that gets energy when you move it around. Thanks in advance for helping me out, I would be very grateful even if the type of watch wasn't found but someone told me what's what on the watch.

I dont know anything about this specific watch, but can answer a couple of your questions.

It's a chronograph, the main second hand will move when you start the stopwatch, which is done by pressing one of the two buttons next to the crown. One will be start/stop and the other reset. The subdial on the left is the minute totalizer, it will record how many times the main second hand made a complete revolution, so you can time things longer than 1 minute.

I don't know much about these and the Swiss maker (Dubois/ETA?) of the movement seems to be a closely guarded secret but it may help to know how your Dunhill Model SP30 works. "Dunhill’s Bobby Finder SP 30 features a patented bezel that, when rotated, retracts the chronograph pushers."

What you have is a Dunhill "bobby finder SP30" - model #DCZ550BL. If it doesn't strike your fancy either, I'd be happy to put it to use. Heck, I'd even pay the shipping - That's just the kind of guy I am! :lol::001_tt2::lol:
Seriously, it is a very nice watch, and I'm envious of anyone who has such a fine timepiece "fall in their lap". New, it has a list price around (US)$4400, and I believe it uses an ETA based automatic movement with an added complication, but I don't know who makes that. As has been mentioned, Dunhill keeps its movement supplier info close to the vest, but if you search around on the web long enough someone will have looked I'm sure. I've always liked Dunhills, I don't think they get enough notice... they make some very interesting, and innovative watches, yours in particular. :thumbup1:
As for operation, once wound up (either by crown, or gently swinging the watch), the time functions should start working. Pushing the button at "2:00" should start the large "seconds" hand, each time it covers 60 sec., the smaller red hand will count off one minute. You can stop the timer by pressing the same button again, and read the total elapsed time. Pressing the button at "4:00" will reset the hands.

thanks everyone :laugh: i can't believe i actually ended up with such a nice watch. I thought the timer function was broken but it turns out i was pushing the buttons wrong.
