I am a relatively new Rolex enthusiast, my collection is quite varied and interesting, but I have been a Rolex owner in the past, having owned my first Rolex in my early 20's. That was a Submariner (red lettering) bought in 1972 (or thereabout!). That watch was sadly stolen in a hotel room in Hong Kong, but I only discovered the theft after I arrived In Australia as it was packed in my suitcase, so little chance to retrieve (I did try to contact HK police but obviously with no luck! I wish I still had that one as it now is worth quite a lot of money, but also because I really liked it a lot.
So after a large number watches, Omega, Baume Mercier, Universal Geneve, Cartier, Vintage Chronograph Suisse etc., I recently bought a really nice Oyster Perpetual Date on Catawiki, white dial and roman numerals, ref 15200, 1998, with full set of box and papers. Indeed very happy with it and so much so that I bought one for my wife (also a "date", with white dial and roman numerals) and another for my daughter, not a date (black dial).
So now I'm looking forward to reading the forum and learning more about this often maligned but also more often beloved brand.
