I am a college student and have been interested in watches for a long time. Lately I have been seriously thinking of getting my 1st mechanical/automatic watch and Hamilton is definitely one of the contenders.
Is there any recommendation for a good affordable Hamilton watch for a start to watch collecting? Also, is this a bad time time to buy a watch especially with the price increase and stuff or are they gonna increase further? Any chance of dropping prices??
I am really sorry if the questions sound ridiculous or amateur-ish.

Hi axaequalsasquared and welcome to the forum. There are a lot of options for you to consider. For under $350 you can buy a 42mm Khaki Field automatic. For the same price, the 40mm Khaki King auto with day/date is also a possibility and that from Hamilton Authorized dealers.

I suggest looking at www.hamiltonwatch.com at the online catalog, find some model numbers and Google 'em to get an idea on price and availability.

Welcome axaequalsasquared ! I knew you were a college student for any one other than a student could spell that name!

If $ is an issue, I wouldn't be afraid of looking for a FSBO (For Sale By Owner)...the great thing about Hamilton is that you can buy even a brand new watch for under $500.00:thumbup:

I think the Hamilton Viewmatic series would be your best bet.
Reasonably priced, and I would not doubt that you will be wearing this 20 years from now.
Even if you begin collecting watches, you will still end up with the Viewmatic on your wrist occasionally.

I would have to agree with Gerard and Mgiraz. The Viewmatics are great watches and will stand the test of time.
Another question to answer is are you looking for a strap or bracelet on the watch?
If you do not mind preowned check the sales forum. I purchased my first Viewmatic preowned.

Thanks a bunch guys for the great advice... I did some searching on ebay and the official website.... the open heart looks pretty decent in the official website but when i took a look at the real thing, i kinda felt it doesn't have the same great finishing like the other hamilton watches...
Is it just me or do you guys share the same sentiments???
