The Hamilton Navy Pioneer H78465553 uses the ETA 2895-2 movement which has 27 jewels. The watch is 40MM, with 20mm lugs, water resistance to 328 ft and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

The dial is finished in a “velvety” gun metal blue finish, with the seconds dial treated with concentric rings. In real life, the blue is vibrant and blue. Apparently my photographic skills are able to transform that color to black:blink:

The hands are long and highly polished. The bezel is decorated with a geometric pattern. Overall, the watch is a homage to early Hamilton’s, which is exemplified by the strap lugs, simple dial, and classic hands.

The on the back, the see through case shows off the decorated ETA 2895 movement.

My first impressions are is the the 40mm case is at the small end for me, but as I wear it, the dial is perfectly clear, with the date and time easily readable. The decorated bezel is a nice touch and I like the retro look of the lugs which holds the straps. The leather strap seems stiff, but other straps have seemed so at first but have become softer over time.

The box is a little underwhelming and Hamilton ought to do better.

The blue is abit dark. 40mm? It's either the invicta venom is too big or this is too small. I'm having trouble with the size too.:T

Just notice something with the winding mechanism. On most watches I own, you can either feel or hear or both, the watch being wound.

On the Pioneer, nothing. I thought my new baby was broken.

Put it up to my ear and could just hear the spring winding. Never had a movement this quiet.

Just a point of information...not to worry...my Hamilton with the same movement also winds very smoothly with no noise and very little if any feel.

Very nice, Grumps! I’ve never seen this particular model “in the flesh”, but I really like the look.
