I've had this watch for about 7 years now. It was my grandfathers before he passed away and bought it when they still lived in Greece. I've done some research as best I can but I've never been able to find anything really about it. I recently had it fixed with a new gasket and time (was running 15mins fast every hour). 64049-3 is the code of the back. The watch maker who fixed it said it was an export watch and that's all he knew. I don't wish to sell it or anything at all since its a family piece now and its promised to my oldest son when the time is right. I just would like some information about it like model and what not.
Thanks for the replies guys. That one does look similar. I know so little about this watch other than its a automatic hamilton and it'll work as long as I wear. Its a great watch has its quirks like when it decided to run fast for a week but I took it back to my watch guy and all is great again. I know my grandfather wore it every day til he passed away 40 years ago and my grandmother told me he had it for a number of years before then. She thinks it 45-50 years old but she can't remember anymore. So just any history/information about it would be awesome
What you want to do is remove the back, or have a competent watch repair person do it, and get all the numbers from the movement and the back of the watch and e-mail this information to Hamilton. Most big, older companies have an archive department and can usually give you at the very least the manufacture or invoice date of the watch and sometimes you'll get tons of information on it.
That's probably your best move. The Hamilton dealer's catalogs I have access to go to the year 1977. I can't find your particular dial configuration in any of them.
They did it with some of the Dateline A-XXX models, along with the Weatherly and Pan-Europ autos. What's stumping me is that specific configuration of hour markers! :confused1: There was one that came really close, except it was an electric rather than an auto.
That's almost what everyone has said. Even the watch repair guy it was taken to. He'd never seen a hamilton like this one. Several close to it but none like it. All he knew was it was certainly a european exclusive model and that's it. He showed me several with a similar face but none just like it and that was the best he could come up with.
