Better late than never. I found this forum by accident after being kicked off another. I mistakenly posted a topic in the wrong section, it was moved and an admin IM'd me telling me so. He advised me to "read the rules of the forum" and "not let it happen again". I wrote him back telling him it was an error, however I let him know his IM was quite rude. I even gave him an out saying it's possible I'm just mis-interpreting it due to conversing electronically, and not in person.

I immediately received a message saying I was banned. Forever! I e-mailed him and got no response.

Oh well, I really like this forum better. Seems more friends, less "cliquey" and the layout is easier to read.

Thanks for having me!

We are certainly most welcome here, and we are glad to have you. No worries if you post on the wrong forum, as we can move it, and we will post the reason why we moved it. It happens, and people learn as they go along. After all, we all started with just one post!!! :)

BTW, here is some other information for you too about our board, all in an easy 30 second format! :)

To begin with, let me welcome you to WTF!!!!
No doubt you will find this board quite interesting, as we have multiple forums, each with its own bunch of characters.

Have you seen our FAQ yet? http://watchtalkforums.info/forums/f...splay.php?f=12

Take about 30 seconds to read, and explains the forum.

If you are intersted in posting pictures, and we love to post here, check out Mr. Houston's Quick and Easy way to post. Guaranteed Success!!

POSTING PICS

Posting pictures is very easy. Here's what you do -

1. Register with a picture host like photobucket.com
This is a free service for up to 1,000 images.

2. Once registered, use the choose or browse function on your photobucket homepage to locate the image you wish to post, from your hard drive

PLEASE REMEMBER to set the maximum size of the image
800 x 600 is best
Anything else would make viewing and accessing the page for users difficult.

3. Click SELECT and then UPLOAD

4. Once uploaded, simply copy the fourth option under each image on your photobucket homepage and paste it into the body of your text here. This fourth link is the Image Tag.

If you have any questions at all, you have a few options too:

Just post a thread and ask! We answer a wide range here and everyone is willing to help anyone out. For stuff not covered by watches, you can post in the Community Forum.

You can also send an Administrator/Moderator a PM (Private Message) to do that, just click on the person's name, and then select private message.

So, put your seat back in an upright position, tray back in place, and strap yourself in and enjoy WTF!!!

Welcome to WTF Aaron. I'm relatively new here, joined in October but i can honestly say you will get the warmest welcome and the best help from these guys. If it's Rolex and it isn't here, it isn't anywhere!
Welcome Aaron!!!!

it's amazing how some other forums work hard to chase people away... :confused1: Oh well - you've found the best watch forum on the 'net anyways! :thumbup1:

Look forward to getting to know you... Do tell us about yourself, what's in your collection?
Welcome Aaron! :001_smile:

This other site you mention...wouldn't happen to be TZ would it? I've been banned from there myself! :D
Hi Aaron,

No it wasn't. I didn't want to advertise their site here, if you'd like I'm not shy about posting which site it was. Or I can PM you.

My collection consists of exactly one watch: TT Sub w/ slate serti dial. It was a 40th b-day gift from my wife. Other than that we own a couple Movados.

I'm a firefighter/paramedic in Southeast Florida where it's currently 87* (in mid December).

BTW-Aaron-great name too!
Aaron,

A big welcome from the Tall Greeneyed GMT Lover too11:thumbup:
It was an interesting experience buying this. The first one I looked at was supposed to be a late 90's. When I got to the store, the watch was beautiful. I asked again for the year and now they tell me mid 80's...and no discount from the price when they thought it was 90's! Needless to say that deal didn't go through. Nothing like someone trying to take advantage of you. Not that I wouldn't have bought a 20 year old watch, but I expected to pay for a 20 year old watch.

Called a store whose owner is the friend of a friend. Said he had this one, K serial# for $500.00 more than the one I originally looked at. And 20 years newer. I didn't have to think long; I can get a watch 20 years newer for $500.00 more? I'll be right there.

Went to the store, looked at it and took it home.
Sounds like my experience at The Rolex Forums, the mod sent me a message that you'd have thought he was sending to a 5yr old child (I wouldn't even speak to my 11yr old like that), PM'd him back and instant banning lol - the guy obviously has jello for a spine :)

And welcome, so far on here I have never seen a reprimand, chastising, or anything but good natured banter.

Yep - very similar to my experience there. I'm banned from there as well.
Hi,

Welcome Aaron!! I dont own any Rolex at this time but I came to this Forum while a friend got me rekindle my interest on watches a while back. My interest really began with my dad who owned a Rolex DJ. He would sit me down and explain the fine Swiss craftmanship to his "superlative Chronometer" watch. He swore by Rolex only...LOL.

Anyway I came across JBHII's reviews of Invicta, Omega, Rolex and landed here. Like many of you, I discovered that some Forums seemed to be moderated by heavy handed personalities. I am just glad that WTF remains the place where one can talk about watches, enquire and gather information that promotes this interest in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

BTW, my holy grail Rolex is none other then the Milgauss.
Hi and welcome!!

I have had similar experiences with that “other forum”, I use post a lot on a certain TZ brand forum but it got it was really like navigating a minefield

Posters here are a lot friendlier and very helpful, im sure you will like it here as I have

Ding, ding ding, we have a winner. Probably the same mod (actually, it was an administrator named lol-x.

Please tell us all what forum it was, so we can avoid such pathetic excuse for a message board.

Welcome to WTF!
Not suprised

They are a different breed over there.
I wrote the the administrator again asking why I was banned. Here is his response:

The forum rules state:
The Rolex Forums reserves the right to remove or edit any post and to suspend or revoke the posting privileges of any person, and all such decisions are final and shall fall within the sole discretion of the The Rolex Forums, its administrators and/or moderators, without any duty to enter into correspondence or provide reasons.

I wrote back saying I understood this, however wanted to know specifically why.
