I have seen a couple of posts on here discussing how accurate the GMT is at keeping it's time. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on this. I set mine to US Gov time 18 days ago at 1200 hours. I got it it perfectly in sync with Gov. time. In 18 days, my GMT is a total of 18 seconds behind. I wear it everyday and really only take it off to shower or sleep. It lays on it's left side at night so that I can read it if I need to know what time it is. Just thought I would pass this along. It is the best (best looking and most acurate) automatic watch I have ever owned!

My GMT IIc is the most consistent mechanical watch I have ever owned. For the first 6 weeks or so that I owned it, it lost 3.4 seconds a day - but never more nor less than that.

I took it in to the Beverly Hills RSC 3 1/2 weeks ago to have it regulated; since then it has lost 2 seconds - that's about .08 seconds a day. I'm pleased.

I have to agree with everybody's sentiments to date. I set my wacth against the "Speaking Clock back on the 23 December 07 and since then it has only lost 16.5 seconds, for a mechanical watch that is truly a outstanding achievement.

Hello All,

I agree with you all. The new GMT IIc is an awsome watch in every respect. I do however as I pointed out on a mid Jan thread that this model is somewhat regulated from factory on the minus side. I bought my first SS GMT IIc in Nov 26 2007 M series, it was to the day -6/8 seconds slow(extremely consistent though). I was annoyed and somewhat couldn't bear it being opened at a service center being that it was too new..I ended up selling it to a friend who just didn't mind and wears it proudly.. After this I bought my second new GMT IIc this Feb 8 "08 and it runs a consistent -2.5 secs slow a day which is well within COSC specs. I'm now a happy camper and am enjoying this beautiful piece to is max!

My GMT is off 3 seconds every day.

Called my dealer and they said if I sent it to Rolex in NYC its within tolerance and there is nothing they will do.

They said they would never open a rolex in warranty in their shop because of the potential problems with getting the seal and pressure test.

So, I wont take the chance on my AD regulating my GMT. I can live with the -3 seconds (consistent) per 24 hr period.

Mine is about the same. Loses 3 seconds per day.
At least it's consistent.

only had mine just over a week but it also seems to be slow by around 3 secs per day! Would ideally prefer it to be a little fast but at least it seems consistent. Early days so might settle down to something closer to 0 yet

Hello All,

Seems to me that most of the GMT's are 3 sec slow a day. Does anyone have a clue as to why this is? I know that they are within COSC spec! Anyone else with a new GMT IIc your imput would be greatly appreciated. Maybe JBHII can also share his valuable input/opinions here.

I think mine was a little slow when I had it. Maybe -2 sec/day at the worst, but over a month it was only off by 5-10 seconds. I suppose this can be attributed to how it was positioned when I slept.

ebueso1970,

I actually tend to sleep with my watches on. They don't bother me at night and I don't have anything hard (nightstand, etc) to accidentally bump/scratch them. So potentiality some of my observations are just me sleeping to the left or to the right.

It bugs me this perfection watch is -3 to -3.5 seconds every 24 hrs slow.

rolex says its within tolerance and wont regulate.

so i can live with it and adjust it every week.

i thought this new watch ticker was the best and the spring was the best,, why is it so much more off then my DD?? The DD is a few seconds a week.

He New Rolexman, I completely agree with you, this new ticker(3186) w/blue parachrom mainspring should be an improvement over the already exellent (3135) workhorse. Is Rolex adjusting this model on the minus side ie..-3secs/day(note this is still within the coveted COSC parameters). for a reason? Is the key here consistency ie...-3sec/day no matter position? Maybe some of the more experinced can shed some light here...JBH, Timefinder, Pauly P, Scott D etc...
