What's the best bang for the buck ?

What has the best variety as far as games go ?

Are the games interchangeable on any other game systems ?

My children already have a game cube but game choices are limited.

What do you see out there that might stand the test of time ?

Tough questions but I know you guys will help me come to a resolution.

Thanks.:thumbup1:

I'm not a game guru, but my 2cents says the Nintendo wii is the best bang for the buck for a family with kids.

But if you want the present that dad can enjoy after the kids are in bed. I recommend the Sony Playstation 3 for it's Blu Ray player. By most its rated as one of the best Blu-Ray players on the market

But to awnser some of your other questions.

None of the system have interchangeable games. eg no PS3 games will play in an xbox360 or a Nintendo wii.

None of the system will play games from your old gamecube.

And nothing will stand the test of time unless your test of time is the 3 year product life cycle :) You'll still be able to buy games after 3 years but no new games will be made for any old system after the new gen is released.

Hope this helps

No problem this definitely needs to moved to the community forum section.:blushing:

Just heard that my kids are talking about the Halo series of games, that they played at a friends house.
Guess if I decide to do this Microsoft will get even more of my money.

I did a tour of the Sony site for the PS3 and that's some fancy stuff.

Is there a game available that comes close to Halo 3 ?

Thanks John for fixing the post count and moving this thread.

Depending on the age, you may want to consider the following:

Haze due out soon.

Assasin's Creed

Call of Duty

Medal of Honor

I am not much of a gamer, so certainly get a second opinion.

I have two Xbox 360s and the games are assume. One for my kids and one for the big kid (me). Very large game selection and the graphics on a HD 1080i TV look like a movie.

The Wii is nice but limited graphics, limited games selection, and very hard to find. But a very good family system.

PS3 is good, but there is still the overheating problem and a limited game selection because the format. It does come with Blu-Ray and a good size hard drive.

PS3 has nothing like Halo 3 period.

What set up should I get and where should I buy it from ? ::huh:

They don't make the selection process easy.:sneaky2:
