After I was "talked" down from my urge to get a Chinese tourbillon, I still want to add something new to my collection.

I'm thinking I want something with an in-house mechanism from a Swiss watch maker.

I like the looks of the Revue Thommen Classics Date Pointer.

It is 41mm and used the Revue Thommen GT56 movement which has 27 jewels, 19,800 bph and a 42 hour power reserve. From reading, it seems when Grovana acquired RT, they brought back the manufacture of in-house mechanisms.

While the date pointer is something I already have, I think in this case, the dial and case work, plus the RT movement more than make up for the lack of a moon phase or complete calendar (which RT offers, but it is an ETA movement and the only one I can find has a black dial which seems to obscure their great dial work).

The watch comes in white, black, and chocolate. The white, imo, shows off the dial best.

It also comes with either a bracelet or strap. I think I'm going to go with the black leather band.

So while it falls short of my dream watch of month, day, date, moon phase, it does have the benefits of a great looking dial and company movement. Money wise, it falls at the very top of my budget.

Any opinions and or suggestions?

Nice! I have an RT with a black dial and the pattern doesn't seem to be obscured at all. Their non-reflective crystal is almost invisible! That is a great looking dial, and I love the small seconds and date pointer.

Unfortunately, I know nothing of the brand. It is however, a very nice looking watch.

May I tempt you with an alternative? I love this pointer date (and the way the pointer moves anticlockwise each day - a nice touch).

Oris Artelier pointer date - I think it may be cheaper than the Revue Thommen (cheaper movement?) but it looks great....
That is indeed a very nice Oris and the dial is top rate.

So I pulled the trigger on the Revue Thommen. Found an online distributor of which RT honors their 2 year warranty and as a stroke of good luck, I had it in my cart overnight and the price dropped a hundred dollars as I hemmed and hawed.

So whether that was the site giving me an incentive to buy or it was fortuitous timing, I took it as a sign from the watch gods to get it.

Pictures in a week or so. I'm really excited to have my first in house Swiss movement.
