Who is Invicta Watch Group?

Meaning “invincible” in Latin, Invicta watches were actually made as early as 1837. Founder Raphael Picard wanted to bring people high quality Swiss watches at affordable prices. The company began its history in La Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland – a land well-known for its watch making endeavors.

Swiss watches have been highly coveted by many parts of the world, and Invicta watches picked up in popularity. The name was well known and well established for more than a century. In the history of Invicta watch, one thing has remained constant: Invicta watches are known for their quality and beautiful design. This is as true today as it was a century ago.

Sadly, the “quartz invasion” of the 1970s pushed Invicta watches out of the picture. Invicta watches all but disappeared. It looked like the long history of Invicta watches had finally come to an end.

The History of Invicta Watch Group, Today

The good news is, the history of Invicta Watch Group does not end with the 1970s. In 1991, the descendants of the original Invicta watch name re-formed the company. Today, Invicta watch group is dedicated to bringing you high quality watches that are still affordable and beautiful in design – the same commitment that Invicta Watch was known for more than a century ago.

“In 1837, Invicta handcrafted its first watches with the belief that fine Swiss timepieces could be offered at modest prices. Today, powered by that same maverick spirit, the once-tiny company has become a fire-breathing dragon, worshiped by collectors, but feared by the rest of the watchmaking industry. In 1991, descendants of the Invicta family re-established the brand holding firm to the company’s founding principle. With rebellious zeal, they quickly recognized that Invicta could give a large segment of the watch-buying public that had long been ignored by other companies, unprecedented access to the fine Swiss quality they lusted for, at prices well within their reach. Thirteen years later, the Invicta Watch Group has evolved into the fastest-growing watch company in the business and has sparked a movement that is turning the balance of power in the watch industry.” - Invicta Watch web site, July 2006

The Beginning of the Invincible Watch from Invicta Watches
Starting out right and keeping those high standards are why Invicta is one of the fastest growing watch manufacturers today. The birth of Invicta watches was just the start of a legacy of quality and unmatchable durability at affordable prices that continues today. Invicta began with an idea that good Swiss watches ought to be affordable for everyone. That same idea was coupled with the realization that the company could make that kind of inexpensive watch with the same care and standards as much more expensive watches.

It all began in 1837 in Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, when craftsman, Raphael Picard made his first affordable manual winding timepiece. For the next 100 years the company would perfect automatic and winding watch styles and create new and enduring designs.

The Invicta Watch Group is arguably the fastest growing watch manufacturer in the business. This being true, it is hard to believe that during the 1970s they almost stopped due to the craze in Quarts watches. However, building on their strong foundation of watch manufacturing, the brand was able to make a stronger comeback than some other inferior brands. After the sluggish sales period of the 1970s, the Invicta Watch Group continued to appeal to watch lovers who recognized value to be more than just price. Collectors began to see the ingenuity behind the Pro Diver and the beauty and elegance of the Angel and Elite lines. Some would even argue that these Invicta watches are better than many of the more expensively priced Swiss made brands.

In a spirit of innovation, Invicta came to develop its own movement calibers as the company expanded upon its stable watch making abilities. This was the beginning of what is now called the Technica Swiss Ebauche. Other innovations include a gold layering technique that is as durable as it is beautiful. Extreme quality control measures are in place for this process and their unique skeletonized movements.

The beginning of the 21st Century had Invicta creating outside the box once again with timepieces that rivaled the most expensive watches created. The birth of the Lupah Swiss Chronograph quickly rose in popularity. One-of-a-kind expansions on the Lupah were created to satisfy the market for rich, diamond clad jewelry that kept perfect time and bore the Invicta name. The company continues to reach the edges of innovation and fashion while still catering to the needs of a loyal following of watch-wearers who value an honest deal.

INVICTA WATCHES ARE HISTORY IN THE MAKING
March 2006 – Invicta watches are finding their way onto more wrists these days thanks to the sales of the on-line variety. A history of high-quality craftsmanship and ability to keep up with fashion trends and performance demands are some of the ways in which Invicta is topping sales records as well as people’s wrists.

The history of Invicta watch begins in 1837 with the first affordable timepiece crafted by Swiss watchmaker, Raphael Picard. His thinking was that Swiss quality, durability and beauty ought to be available to everyone at an affordable price. His new brand was named for the Latin word “invincible” – Invicta.

For decades Invicta watch grew in acceptance as a high quality, lower priced, Swiss watch brand. Sales slowed down a bit in the 1970s as the Quartz watch phenomenon was introduced. However, a comeback in the last 14 years with the development of its own movement calibers as well as the introduction of the sensational Lupah Swiss Chronograph have helped Invicta regain its popularity and claim as one of the best selling, high performance watches.

The Invicta brand continues to make a name for its self among discriminating watch wearers who also like to save money, even winning itself a place as the official Timepiece of the Grammy Awards. An Invicta watch is known even to the stars to offer great value by providing a well-made timepiece with an affordable price tag.

The History of Invicta Watches
Posted under Watches, CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES on Jul 28, 2007

There are many watch companies that start out small. But that does not mean that they are losing to bigger companies. In fact, some smaller companies are at par with bigger ones.

The Invicta Watch Group is an example of this. The name “Invicta” is Latin for invincible. And they are true to their word. This once small company has now become a major competitor in the watch making industry.

This small company began in 1837 in La Chaux de fonds, Switzerland. During that time, Swiss watches were quite expensive. The company’s founder, Rapahel Picard, envisioned good quality Swiss watches that were modest in price.

The company then made their own watches. For more than a century, they have been producing mechanical and quartz watches of excellent quality. But in the early 1970’s, Swiss watches’ sales went down. The downward trend did not exclude Invicta watches and the company dissolved.

But in 1991, Invicta made a comeback. They stuck to their original principle: to provide the public affordable Invicta watches that are at par with the finest Swiss made watches but priced at a modest cost.

In 2004, the Invicta Watch group became firmly established as one of the leading Swiss watch manufacturers.

Invicta watches are known for their excellent quality. Invicta watches use top brand materials such as beautiful sapphire crystals and they come with manual and automatic movements, and uniquely designed cases.

As more Invicta watches are being manufactured and sold, so did the company’s watch making expertise. After moving its key production site to L’Abbeye, Switzerland, they further improved their techniques in production and quality control.

The company has a lot of achievements such as the formulation of a way to make skeletonized movements or the development of a unique gold layering technique.

In 2000, Invicta designed and released one of their most sought after product line, the Lupah Swiss Chronograph. Each watch that belongs to this line has 4,600 full cut diamond hands set in stainless steel settings.

This product line is the crowning achievement of the Invicta and shows the prowess of their workmanship. More unique Invicta watches have been produced over the past few years.

The perfect examples would be the Subaqua Noma and the Limited Edition Ocean Ghost. The Noma features a genuine meteorite dial acquired from pieces of the Gideon Meteor.

The Ocean Ghost is manufactured with an 18 karat gold case and has a movement with a unique titanium based alloy. This makes the watch very tough.

Truly, Invicta watches are great value for your money.

It is my wont to provide links to all the material I post here, but the T&C prevents such if the site is selling watches and they are not sponsors.

I laughed so hard while reading that article, I almost busted a gut and thought others might find it humorous, as well.

If you google the title of the article, you will find the site from which it is taken and other fine articles to boot.
