That the steel & gold Yachtmaster has the exact same weight as a platinum Yachtmaster? Despite the fact that the steel & gold has hollow gold center links where the steel & platinum version has solid center links.

I thought they weighed close to the same, but didn't expect them to be the same. Both are 149 grams.

Interesting....

hey Tom.. Yea - I was in a hurry & didn't get the tripod out... :001_rolleyes: :001_rolleyes:

I changed it back to weigh it. I wanted to see what the actual weight is and the Daytona clasp is a bit heavier I think. But the Daytona clasp's back on now.... :thumbup1:

Interesting. Would have thought for sure the Pt/solid links was heavier. I guess that means there is more gold in the TT than we all thought (and that the Pt bezel is thinner than thought).

Hi Scott, am I noticing a green reflection perhaps in these pics?:confused1:Are there still stickers on these watches? Just kidding buddy, I still have the green hologram and model # on the back of my Subbie LV from 2004:thumbup1:, and it still looks great!

Hey John.. Yup, all 3 of my Roelxes still have their holograms on them. The LV & TT YM are about 18 months old, and the stickers still look new! I will NOT peel them off!!!!

Hi Scott

Thanks for this very interesting nugget.

One thing I am discovering among all watch enthusiasts (and among Rolex ones in particular), is that there is nothing too trivial to not to want to know about it.

You probably have come across this link by Jocke, but I'll post it here anyway:

http://www.watchwallpapers.com/16622.htm

What I found most facinating was how he removed the platinum YM bezel and compared it to the weight of the Submariner.

And in a more general sense, in the past few weeks on this forum alone, I've come across topics about a Rolex in outer space, discussions about price and demand, about price control, etc, etc.

Look carefully, and that past paragraph contains topics spanning: Physics, Economics, possibly Antitrust Law as well.

More than enough to keep an info geek like me happy.

cheers

Mao
