Hay.
Does anybody know something like this, but smaller diameter? This one is rather big, but I like design of it.

the size of it is 44 and something, I want 42 as a maximum, better to find 40.

Any advices? Is it Fliegerstyled? It is critical to have dayplate in german.

I think you would have best luck looking for a "president style" date in smaller than 40mm by looking at vintage watches. These were quite popular in the '70s-'80s, a huge number of companies used to make them... West End, Seiko, Tittoni/Felca,Bulova etc. Unfortunately most are now over 40mm, as current fashion has pushed all watches towards manhole cover sizes!
One I know of, though maybe not current, that is available on line (and 39mm dia.), is the Tissot Couturier #T035407165101
