And now, another story brought to you by MOsterpiece Theatre...

"Daddy, what's it like to own a Speedmaster?"

I can remember these words. Words from a child. Words that echoed into my fatherly ears. The sound waves reverberated against my eardrums like the primordial beats of early humanity.

"Daddy, what's it like to own a Speedmaster?"

I looked down at my beloved son, gazing into his blue eyes that looked up at me as if I were godlike to him. His voice, so soothing, so relaxing to me. He is, my beloved son, curious about something that we both loved. My love stretching across decades, his interest, spanning months, but oh those cherished months.

"Daddy, what's it like to own a Speedmaster?"

I looked down into his eyes and told him...

"I WOULDN'T KNOW, MY SPEEDMASTER'S BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THREE MONTHS!"

The End

I'd like to ping them alright! ;-)

I sent it to Omega's service and repair shop in Clearwater, Florida. I don't want to annoy them too much and have them put it in the back of the line, so I've been patient. You know, you get the old, "waiting for parts" line.

I was just trying to be creative with a little horological bedtime story. :)

Sorry to hear that MacDaddy! How can they be waiting for parts to what is arguably Omega's best known watch? Shouldn't they be readily available?? My SMP 2252.50 was completely overhauled in 2 weeks time at the San Francisco authorized service center.

3 months is outrageous, IMO. You are a kind and patient man. Perhaps you should change your name to ZenDaddy :001_smile:

Yes. I called on Friday and they said it was in the final stages of testing. I should have it Tuesday or Wednesday of this week if all goes well.

They have been very courteous and professional I must say. I guess it's the fact that I really miss it. I only wore it for eight months and they originally said it would take about four weeks. It's been three times as long, but as long as the watchmaker does his job. Any other work and I may send it to Bienne next time.

Anyone know how long it takes to get a watch back from the mother ship?

No pal

Never had to beam it up before. Last one went to Eastleigh and came back 5 weeks later more accurate than when it left the factory I dare say.

We're waiting for that happy ending to the adventures of " Apollo 22 " ;):thumbup1:

Be well pal

Apollo 22 Splashes Down Near Gulf of Mexico!

SPLASHDOWN!

Apollo 22 has returned home! I picked it up today!

I talked with the watchmaker (they have three or four) and he said they originally thought it was me, that I forgot to wind it. He said "usually it's a 78 year old man" but they watched it for a few days and saw it had not been running properly. It would happen, not happen, happen, etc. They replaced a few parts, actually did a total disassemble and service on it and hopefully fixed it. It's been fine for them, but he said any problems, give him a call.

So I'll watch and wait...

It does look beautiful. I'm appreciating it more. :001_tt1:

It came back home to 'Daddy where it belongs!

Daddy, What's it like to own a Speedmaster, Part Two

And now, the conclusion of "Daddy, what's it like to own a Speedmaster?", brought to you by MOsterpiece Theatre...

"Daddy, what's it like to own a Speedmaster?"

Ah, my dear child. The glisten of the Hesalite in the moonlight, the soft glow eminating from the black dial, a black dial as pure as space itself.

"Daddy, what's it like to own a Speedmaster?"

The sparkle of the Stainless Steel, not unlike the sparkle in a child's eye as they look into the dials of a horological masterpiece...

"]"Daddy, what's it like to own a Speedmaster?"

I looked down into his eyes and told him...

"IT'S WONDERFUL , AND NOW IT'S HOME!"

The End

I'm glad to hear that everything has turned out for the best.

It sounds like it was worth the wait. I hope it continues to run well for you.

So, any chance of a celebratory picture of the returned item?
