I am trying to get my nephew a Christmas present; but, after looking at his PC, I am unable to tell if the game specs meet his system.

He has an ATI Mobility Radeon X1300

The game requires an ATI Radeon 9800 (or better)

My question is this: Does he meet the requirements? If not, does that mean the game will not play? He has a laptop, so does that mean I would have to have his system upgraded? Or should I find another game?

Any advice or help is appreciated.

THANK YOU!!!! :001_smile:

My advice would be to call ATI customer service and ask the question. :confused1:

In most cases, laptops cannot be upgraded very much.

I tried the computer manufacturer and did not find anyone who spoke English or knew the difference between a video card and playing cards. Needless to say, I am very frustrated by this. Any company can sell a product; but, hiring personnel that can not support a product after the sale, or have a staff be able to understand the customer's questions and concerns is a red flag. After all, if an upgrade is needed, I would have purchased the card and include it with the game as a present.

I will try ATI tomorrow. Thanks. :)

ATI Mobility Radeon X1300
ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 is one of the weakest graphic cards from ATI. It hardly can only be used for current games.

ATI Mobility Radeon 9800
ATI Mobility Radeon 9800 is a slim X800 for AGP with energy saving functions and needs a lot of current. Therefore the performance of this card is correspondingly well, but it was rarely used (in a Dell notebook).

You could always buy him a new system, Very few upgrades for a laptop. RAM and a HD which is faster then the orginal are about it. Laptops are cheap enough these days.

Laptop graphics as a general rule are not nearly as good as their desktop counterparts. Like Koi mentioned, good graphics demand a lot of electrical current and are very power hungry. Laptops that are expected to run on batteries just can't provide the juice.

That being said, things are getting better. While I believe the X1300 Mobility is a newer generation than the older 9800 it still can't best it because of the power constraints.

Like Koi said, 99% of laptops don't have upgradeable graphics so you'll need a better machine for that game.
