I believe the super compressor case was at the time one of the most water resistant cases out there save for the Rolex Oyster. Even off brand Swiss names in that case seem to bring a premium if they are in good shape.
edit: After looking at the listing IMHO I would not shell out $4500 for that watch with the case back gouged up as it is. Heck you could get a good used Rolex sub for that price
I have always admired that style. They had the look and feel of the much admired Jaeger-LeCoultre dive watches but at a fraction of the cost. Of course, the Bulova 11ALAC movement wasn't even close to the LeCoultre craftsmanship but the average Joe would never know.
