Hello all,
consider this my introduction and my first question. I have been a Senior Technician at a Ford Dealer for about a decade and just recently I have become extremely interested in watches in general, and by nature of my business I am curious of watch repair and operation. I have an Invicta Pro Diver I wear on the regular but have recently purchased a brand new Bulova 96A137 without tags from Ebay that is not working. At first guess I believe the main spring is not winding. I tried to manually wind the watch with no luck. I currently have the watch apart and would like some comments on direction I should go before I decide myself. I was going to get to the main spring and inspect it but I chose to seek information from you guys first. ;) I have attached a photograph of the watch disassembled and if you look closely I found a small loose part that appears to be a spacer or retainer for something. Thanks for any help!

I will take a picture of the back this evening. I have found the movement entirely for $50. Does anyone know who sells movement parts for Miyota? Seeking some information. I am guessing when we are talking such small parts, there is some gigtantic miyota catalog wholesalers use or miyota simply only sells the movements as assemblies only. Seeking information, thanks guys. I will post a good picture of the back side tonight! Thanks again,
-Daniel

I would assume being a mechanical watch that does not operate, a watch repair guy would be able to give me a few pointers with the information I have already provided?? Are the pictures I posted of the movement too blurry for you? Just seeking some direction from someone who knows this trade.

I think you'll find that there isn't a lot of interest here in watches that were made bearing the Bulova name since Citizen bought it. We're mostly into the older American made stuff. Good luck.

Is the balance moving when u wind it
Us the rotor moving freely is it wobbling at all. Any thoughts I give do at ur own risk don't wanna be sued lol. I had a seiko five I got off the bay and it wasn't working but I noticed the rotor was a Lil off so I got my trusty watch screw driver and tighten it down and the watch is still working Does the winder adjust the hands. That movement is the 8N24 I own two bulovas with that movement they are not bad. The winding gear could be off or missing and let me tell parts are hard to get. I'm looking for a sweep second gear. That movement has different setup it's not a pivot but a gear that u put the sweep second on. If u don't put it just right u bend it and u gotta look for another one and I've seen that movement go for 75 to 85 bucks.
