I am sure some of you have seen mention of movement shortages and movement scarcity. Well I found out this is not just a shortage of Swiss, or even Japanese movements. The bloody Sea-Gull movements are all allocated for the next 9 months! Which makes me wonder what effect this will have this coming year on the market in general. As it seems that just about all the sources of automatic movements are becoming rather scarce.

Best Regards,

I was reflecting on that very issue today. You'd think that if demand were high for automatics, then manufacturers would do everything they could to accomodate it, else they risk losing some business. Even so, maybe its time for the Accuquartz movement to come back!

The market is self correcting. There are never a finite number of quality watchmakers. Who is to say that a Chinese woman will not be the next great innovater or developer of new quality controls or fantastic movements? When there is a demand for a product the supply will find a way.
