Hey everyone,

If there's one thing all Rolex owners & enthusiasts share, it's their love of rumors about Rolex & what's next. We just can't get away from them! :thumbup1:

There always seems to be a new rumor about a new model, one that'll be discontinued or which one's going to be updated next & how..

As I said, we all love rumors.. That's why we have so many! And the mystique & secrecy of Rolex just fuel the Rolex rumor's as everyone trying to have the latest breaking Rolex news.

Sometimes I wonder if Rolex doesn't stay so secret just to keep the rumors going & see what the Rolex community comes up with. After all, they're human too & probably enjoy the endless rumors as much as we do.

So as Basel '08 is just less than 3 months away, let's have some fun....

Post your best Rolex '08 rumor here. Maybe it's something you've heard, something you've heard & added your own to or maybe it's just something you'd like to see & want to start the rumor yourself. No rules on what the rumor can be... :thumbup1:

The only thing I do guarantee is everything you read below is a rumor, so accept it all as fun fiction, and none of it as fact...

And lets see how many of these rumors are true once Basel is here...

So go ahead WTF!! Post your best, or make your own, Rolex Basel '08 rumor below.... :thumbup1:

I'll start it with an easy one. We've all heard & expect it - but it's not confirmed at all:

New Submariner with solid center link bracelet, GMT IIc style clasp, super case, maxi dial & ceramic bezel.

I know, not earth shattering, but we're just getting warmed up... :thumbup1:

A new Daytona with a date complication:thumbup:

It's got to happen someday, why not this year to celebrate the 100th?

Also as well as the above Sub modifications I reckon the new Sub will also have red script as on the old versions:thumbup: Call it a bit of retro homeage to the past Subs:thumbup:

I"m thinking that we'll see a refresh of the Sub with the obvious enhancements. Probably no Daytona enhancments (although I'd be the first in line for a date)

I'm thinking that for Rolex's 100 year anniversary we'll get something super cool. I'm proposing nothing less than an updated Datejust and Day/Date for the NEXT 100 years. Of course they won't mess with tradition too much, so I'm thinking.....

1. Maybe a larger case size, 38mm or 40mm
2. Maybe a new bracelet style to accompany the existing Oyster and Jubilee
3. More lume (finally be able to see the time in the dark on one of these)

What could be cooler than Rolex updating the most popular and copied watch in the world? This is the 100 year anniversary people, they have to have something HUGE!

You never know how events will play out, but I do hope they will refresh the Submariner line. Personally, I would love to see a Submariner with GMT, but I haven't heard any rumors to this effect.

The other day I was thinking about which Rolex I should buy first and mostly I had been considering either the Submariner or the SeaDweller, but also the Datejust. Now I would even have to add the Yachtmaster and the GMT II and lately, the Day-Date. I have been considering whether I should delay consideration of the Submariner until after Basel 2008 to see what happens, but the truth is, I like the Submariner the way it is now too. Basically, I am hopeless . . . oh well.

The 16610 is being discontinued, it doesn't appear on Rolexs site anymore.

Actually, it's still there. It's in the "collections" pages under submariner.

Also, just FYI Rolex doesn't put all the model variations on their website. Many of the models available are no where to be seen online. :confused1:

For me, at the next Basel Fair, Rolex will present:

1) GMT II C with pepsi and red/black bezels, red GMT hand and red writing on dial;

2) New Explorer II with maxi case and dials and maybe orange GMT hand;

3) New Dayotna with date ???

Ciao

Someone told me this is a fact:

New Models coming soon from Rolex at the Basel Fair 2008.

(1) SeaDweller is to have a major transformation and will be introduced at the next Basel Fair 2008. New GMT type case, Ceramic insert, Maxi dial, New movement, and a new bracelet.

(2) Pink Gold Daytona

(3) Gmt with ceramic bezel in red and blue. To get round the problem of bleading of colours, there will be a hairline gap between the colours on the bezel.

There are production problem on the Milgauss with the green glass. Delivery is now suspended.

Rolex are also working on a retro of the Moonphase, and the Jean Claude Killy

A revamped Bubble Back (a la recent Prince revamp) would be appropriate for a 100 year celebratory watch IMHO.:001_rolleyes:

Also, a watch with some kind of complication other than the date and day displays. Rolex had a new movement last year with the YMII and included the new Parachrom hairspring so maybe they were just starting slowly.

However, I'd love to see a new model (dressy or otherwise) with a perpetual or annual calendar.

Good speculation guys. Keep it coming.

@Teo: I've never been privy to a proper Rolex leak before. In fact, the ADs find out at about the same time as us mortals. I'm sure they have their "sewing circles" was well requesting different features and models from Rolex. I wouldn't think the information is "factual" unless is came from someone with a Rolex business card in Switzerland or possibly NY. Is your source of this caliber?

I was thinking about this too Rick.. To the best of my knowledge, Rolex has not produced a perpetual or annual complication. Is this true? Anyone know if there's ever been a real perpetual or date model, besides the day & date models? I'd think they would have, but.....
