Thanks...

I didn't mean it was turquoise... it just had more of that look to me...I'm sure it is a beautiful strap.

I think the Cumulus has a "dark" sort of stealth look to it so I wanted a strap that would compliment that look and go with the blue dial. I was thinking the sapphire blue strap would be too bright for my liking. (and you mention that it is brighter)

The Navy blue I hope will fill the bill.

Hey Wingnut--Thank you. I saw your questions about Stolas/Lum Tec choice in the LT forum, followed a bit of research & viola! I now have a BC Hellcat on order. Never woulda found it if you hadn't posted. By the way, also really like your Cumulus, too. We'll all have to post pics when they arrive.

heilong...

No problem, as I had said I was surely about to buy a Lum Tec and like yourself stumbled upon "Stolas".

I for one don't do "impulse" buying, as a matter of fact I can become bogged down doing research on a purchase I want to make. The internet has made it too easy to find anything...anywhere and possibly at a better price!

But after looking at Curtis' new BallCalls I knew want I wanted. Alot of forward, innovative thinking going on at Stolas, I don't think any of us will be dissappointed!

There was a reply to a post over on the Lum Tec board regarding my choice saying Lum Tec has superior customer service...I can say this, I have been in contact with Curtis and I am sure it can't be any better than Stolas.

BTW...I can't wait to see everyone's pics too. :001_tongue:

Well I am in on this Stolas watch, put in my down payment today.
I think Lumtec collectors will enjoy Stolas watches too.
There specialized uniqueness is the same but different.

I might be able to show it with the shark straps you are considering as I own them both in 24mm and can move them to this watch off of my Lumtecs.

I think a few of the Lum-Tec faithful have found their way to the Stolas BallCall's now.

Granted Lum-Tec has quite a few more lines out then Stolas at this point, but I do like the philosophy that Curtis seems to have about keeping certain things in regards to the designs consistent to create more of a brand identity. LT has several case designs, several dial styles, several font types, etc. that make for a very wide selection and caters to many tastes. But it does make it so that you probably can't see an LT at a glance and know that its an LT.

As for the post in the Lum-Tec forum about service, I don't think that member was trying to suggest that Stolas' customer service was bad or anything, only that part of LT's selling point was their CS, and it is in fact very good.

New Strap

"Called the Ball" on a new strap for the Cumulus...navy blue shark from Kain Heritage...I think it's "it"!

Electric blue Sunglasses Rectangle Tints and shades Strap

Also, thanks to Kain for all his help.

(Patrick...you are right...I didn't mean it that way...I'm sure LT's CS is great, just wanted to say that I think Stolas' is the same!)

Enjoying the thread

Hey wingnut and Patricksf I think we are all going through the same mind set here. I have a M53 bronzo lum tec on pre order, but the release date plus the lack of eta timing, and sandwich dial had brought me to the warthog+. I'm thinking I could do another lum tec model on demo and a warthog and come out with a similar price. I do love the bronze and see through case back of the lum tec though. I'm a little disappointed the didnt do the sandwich dial on the lum tec, surprising they didn't.

I hear you Vinny. I think it is in the Cobalt Chromium thread that Chris mentions those will be a sandwich dial, and the two WTF LE watches had them too, so not sure how decided to go with the applied dial on the M53/M54 since its a new model. I fell in love with sandwich dials with Panerai, but even they don't make all their models with that design, so LT seems to be picking and choosing some models with which to use that particular feature.

I decided to stick with my M53 pre-order because of the bronze case look. Only other Bronzo I really like is the Panerai (don't wanna spend the $$$ on that model), and I have a soft spot for the Anonimo bronze models, but didn't find one that I felt I could live with. So to not 'dirty' up all my new watch dials, I went with the Enigma. I really liked the contrast white on black with that one, and a power reserve movement gives me a little more flexibility in which watches get in the winder

I picked up an m42 in the demo sale too, love this thing... I say keep the M53 on pre-order, and snag a BallCall in a color combo that you don't already have. They all have the same case design and sandwich dial... hard to go wrong.

Patrick, you are making a lot of sense! I like the way you think! I recently bought a Tourneau TNY, which was designed by old panerai designers, and that has sandwich dials and eta timing so I do have that going for me, which is nice.

Hey Blue Lume, which model did you get (I'd assume the Cumulus for obvious reasons)?
Vinny, PatrickSF & Wingnut: I agree w/ all of you. Stolas has that not-quite-the-same-ole-thing look as LT & I'm hoping it's on par w/ the quality. The next LT I'm planning on getting is (tentatively) the cobalt chrome, but that's not till next year. If the Stolas lives up to expectations, they might see a lot of crossover customers. I know it's only early June & we haven't even gotten our watches yet, but I'm already anticipating what Stolas is planning for next year.

Congrats, Blue-lume. If I was to pick a second watch to order, it's really a toss up between the Alert-5 & the Cumulus; leaning toward the Cumulus cause it's just the right amount of blue---not overdone or gaudy but not too understated. Excellent choice!
