Well i think only jeremy can answer your qns... But in my own opinion, it is impossible to totally move away from ETA given the company capacity... Even some well establish swiss power watch house has problem going completely in-house let alone BALL. They may use other company ébauche instead of getting it from ETA but other company may also buy parts from other swatch group subsidary to create their own ébauche. So end of the day swatch still earning all the billion and we still paying high price for swiss watches... And so much for being "swiss made" watches when swatch group has so many manufacturing plant in asia... Call it "asia made" next time.

'Swiss Made' requires only 50% of the production cost is made in Switzerland. As to components used, Swiss watch must have at least 50% of total value excluding assembly to be eligible for 'Swiss Made'. And you are right IH, ETA have several manufacturing plants in Asia, some in China.

Back to topic, I am sure Ball will have their own calibre in time. But as with Ball historically, I place greater value on their watch delivering good time keeping then some clever movement manufacturing. I am not ready to pay for what Richard Mille, Franck Muller or Martin Frei's re-invention of a watch calibre. :D

It's ahrd to justify the price sometimes for a highly embellished movement that is not as accurate, as say,a well tuned 2892.

I know Ball is moving towards in-house movements, but not sure the time frame, or what the nd results will look like.

The Nomos model cited by Bullosa in an earlier thread seems like a good direction,
