There was a time when I was new to all this that I would not be too keen on having a watch that was discontinued. Sounds silly, doesn't it? Makes me out to be a fashionista or something like that. Not anymore I hasten to add.

It seems that's what they do in Japan where you see many discontinued models being offered on that place by the sea. One can therefore pick up relative bargains or used to as it appears.

Are you fashion conscious? Would you be ready to trade up an old model for something new or do you keep a watch for love? ;)

Let's talk pals :thumbup:

Can't see me ever getting rid of the 50th Speedy. I guess if something overwhelmed me I could trade up from the GMT but I really, really like that watch also. The 112x movement will in all likelihood be a keeper.

Aren't fashionistas those people that serve up the coffee at Starbucks???

I proudly wear a brown belt with black shoes and any watch strap I want.

Trade up my trusty 2254.50 for something new just beacuse it may be discontinued? Heck NO!!! Although...I am ALMOST finished painting my house (and in an old thread indicated I would treat myself to a new Omega as a reward) so....plus, I am headed to Hawaii (Maui) next month for a few weeks so would LOVE to have a new addition on the ole wrist (PO ?/ Speedy?)...but a fashionista? No way....I also have my 1951 Seamaster which looks so good when worn with a suit at a formal event..so to make a long story short, I keep my watches out of PURE LOVE and enjoyment! :001_wub:

Discontinued? The only Omega I know of that is discontinued is the Great White. I doubt there are many people that could look at a particular watch and tell how old it is or if it is still in production or not. It doesn't bother me that I drive a first generation 300, it sure won't bother me if my watch has been discontinued. I probably won't even know that it is discontinued. I don't run with the fashionistas. If I ever do, just shoot me.

I dont intend to do anymore selling or trading or buying, I have my permanent collection now. I have gone thru many watches in the past few years but no more. My SMP is discontinued and that makes it worth even more to me.:cool1:

When I get rid of watches in my collections with a view to buying another it will be for something completely different.

Life is too short, there are too many fine watches out there to experience and funds are too low for me to simply trade up to the new model for a slight aesthetic difference.

I think even if a company introduces a new movement, like the Co-Axial, and I really wanted it I would look to buy a completely different watch to any others in my collection to have it in.

MARCW - 300 what?

It doesn't bother to me wear a discontinued watch, I wearing my 2254.50 right now. When I get a watch, I make sure it is something that I will want to wear, today tomorrow, 20 years from and now and give to my kid. That's the mentality I approach it with! :)

doesen't bother me, I like what I like...

my Omegas are my favorite watches and both are discontinued.

can't imagine that changing by worring about whether they are "in style"

or not..:001_rolleyes::001_rolleyes:
