Google will auto-complete "EPIRB false alarm", so it can't be too rare!

To my knowledge, if you set it off, you are responsible for the charges, whatever they are. Depending on where you are when you set it off, this could be an extreme amount of money!

In Colorado, if you have a hunting/fishing license, they don't charge SAR fees.

Until now I'd never heard of a EPIRB. Thanks!!!

I was just over at SOUNDINGS, a website for boaters. In 2009 fishing boat company was slapped with a $8,000 fine. :scared:
A worker "disposed" of an old EPIRB by tossing it overboard and contact with the seawater activated it.
