I am lucky enough to have an Accutron 218 hunter case (face covered) pocket watch from 1976. Was this the first hunter case pocket watch Accutron offered? If not, would someone please tell me what was, when, and maybe show me photographs?

Those watches started with the 218 movements and went up to the all quartz movements, I have a beautiful 219 based hunter case Accutron that keeps great time, one of the best I have.....

I think he just showing were the date code is located on the same case that either movement would fit in!
Correct, But that same case was used with a 218, 219, and quartz 242, the movement ring for the 218 will work with the 219 as they are the same BUT the quartz movement ring is unique to the quartz movement and can not be used with either the 218 or the 219 movements......
