I was wondering if someone here might be able to offer some background on an Astronaut I have.

Its a 1967 dated Astronaut that is marked "US GOVT PROP #2429" on the back. Any chance anyone knows any info on these marked that way? I haven't found a thing on the net in the way of info or photos.

It does need some restoration, although it does run (I tested it today with a battery). It needs a service and crystal at least.

Thanks so much,

Wow, interesting. I am curious about the responses you will receive. Oh wait, since I am a taxpayer, I must claim that watch for myself.

The U.S. Government purchased hundreds if not thousands of Accutron Astronaut model watches. They were used by Astronauts, CIA U-2 pilots and USAF test pilots and just about anyone of high rank. Your watch came from an estate sale so, I wouldn't hesitate to ask the seller for a name.

A Google search for Accutron USAF or Accutron military will take you to much info on the subject.
