A really SERIOUS question...........dare you answer.........?????

The Lifestyle Watch, a beater........

I have a question,
One I thought a bit to ask.
What are you comfortable wearing everyday to tell the time?
Which features do you hope to find in the watch that you would wear as a beater?

I know for me it must be tough
Waterproof to some hundred of a meter
Able to move with me seamlessly from the office to the beach
Automatic (Eco-drive perhaps)
With a second hand
Sweeping
Tell time accurately
Display the date
Display the day
Readable in the dark
With a bezel to tell elapsed time
Screw,
The crown down.
A metal bracelet too
Fits under a long sleeve
Complements a short sleeve
Able to take a scratch (But not done regularly or intentionally)
Say something about who I am
Some call it your “beater”
I call it my Lifestyle Watch
A watch that captures my Lifestyle
Supports it too
And captures my gaze to view it
For a minute, even
Apart from the looks to tell me the time
The selection from my collection
That is not only default
But a joy to wear
So not kept in a vault
It hugs
It has style
Some special features (crown @ 3:18:32)
A bit of presence
It doesn’t scream “look at me !!!”
But coyly appreciates a compliment
It is not too heavy
Nor too light
Its weight distributes just right
Able to last and endure
It’s something of a relationship
This is my answer, can you add more????

My latest answer is the Seiko SKX007J on a Presidential.

I hope that you do enjoy the pictures, as much as I enjoyed composing and collating this article.

I would also like to TOTALLY, dedicate this thread to persons such as Quartzimodo, and all others who advise, listen, consider, compose, photograph, review, post and share their passion for watches on forums.

I thank especially, Ww Lee at Chronograph for filling my order all the way from Singapore to the Caribbean, and the pictures tell a 1,000,000,000 words.

Always love the SKX007's dial and markers...but I hardly think this watch dont call attention to itself with such bling bling jubilee bracelet. :D
Really nice! That Seiko is a real tool dive watch. And the bracelets and straps that you have for it are great too.
Ahhh, it comes with various type of straps & bracellets too... very nice ...

I didn't know the SKX007 is belongs to Seiko 5 family

Great shots :thumbup1:

Hello Pete J,
In order to clarify, I ordered (and purchased) the additional straps and bracelet with the watch as the dealer has a fine array to chose from.

And am glad that you enjoyed the shots...........Best wishes.
nice shots, thats a great piece there, I like all the straps it comes with, thats awesome, also the Seiko dive watches are really starting to grow on me, they look gorgeous.
Man, awesome 007J pics, Commander! I have a Seiko 6309 Pepsi dial and just love that tank of a watch. I have been looking at 007Js recently and just may pull the trigger on one myself.

Thanks for sharing!
My daily is a Seiko Kinetic; the one on the left

Unique Band,Gold, gets attention everywhere, keeps PERFECT time,,,I never wear my Rolex anymore because it is only accurate for 2 hours!! By the way,,,I think we should put a 100 picture limit on posts.....lololol,that is a little much! Woops,,sorry; its not on my avatar anymore...oh well..

LOL ...yeah that was a lot of pictures.
I'll take note next time...........the watch was a patient model and I tried to do shots that I had not come across while lurking and checking previous threads.
Very nice pictures, I just came across this post from the SKX007 club post.

I particularly like the watch on the basket picture.

A few question, is the president bracelet a SEIKO or aftermarket bracelet? Is it solid or folded steel links?

Thanks

Awesome thread. I really enjoy seeing pics of the 007. Thanks

Regarding the bracelet
Its a Seiko bracelet, with solid links.
But are the end-links solid? They look folded.

They are folded.
Hello Commander,

Very good post, and may I congratulate you on finding the perfect daily wearer for you, as the SKX007 surely fills that tall order!
Your pics were great & I can see how happy you are, and Lee is also a fine gent indeed, so you did it up right buddy.

My answer to your question would be my Seiko 6309-729A, although I dont consider any of my watches beaters, and I would hate to ever ding or mare one of them, the 6309-729X just is the watch for me that fills the order of your list with out spot.

Cheers & Thanks, Congrats on your 007J.
