A franken watch?

Hello all,

This is my first post on these forums. I wish it were to show off a good purchase, but I fear it's for a frankenstein.

I've just started building a small collection of Old 60s/70s Omegas, with the idea of having a couple of daily wearers and couple of dress watches. I bought the Cosmic 2000 watch shown in the attached first 2 pictures. I bought it as a daily wearer, thinking it was all up together apart from the condition of the dial, but on look into it with more detail the watch doesn't seem to stack up. I cannot find a standard Cosmic 2000 model with this dial only a Diver version (see the third pic). Anybody able to give me some thoughts on this one? How much of a dud is it?

Also how easy/costly would it be to get the dial restored (providing it's worth doing at all). I am also finding that it does not run for a full day.

DON'T TOUCH THAT DIAL!!!!! It is 100% original. :thumbup1:

You have a reference 366.0827 (the base model is the 166.0137) with a caliber 1012 inside - a watch that was first issued to the US Navy in 1973. It has a special "container" for the movement inside the case which might have U.S. NAVY engraved on it. I think you stumbled onto a watch that's much nicer than you believe. It's NOT a franken at all and is a very nice example. :thumbup1:

BTW, nice entrance. Welcome to WTF (yes, we are aware of the initials.)
Thanks for the quick response. Just to be sure. The watch I own is in the first two pictures.

The third picture is of the only Omega I can find with almost the same dial. This matches the models you mentioned. If you compare the two watches, mine does not have the divers bezel on it and the date is black on white, where as the diver version has white on black. My dial is also missing the 200ft/60m detail below the '2000'.

I've been unsuccessful so far in finding another Cosmic 2000 like it and that's why I'm wondering if it is a frankenwatch or even worse, a fake.
Dismiss all that was just said. Unless you can post a HEAD ON SHOT of YOUR WATCH, we really can't tell anything.

Thank you.

I hope I caused no offence by querying your previous post.
