I am not an expert on mechanical chronograph movements, but I have heard and seen other comments stating the answer is no. If the chronograph seconds hand requires adjustment on a mechanical movement it requires care from a watchmaker/qualified person.

I was afraid of that. Recently a seller of a Speedway on the bay had disclaimed that chronograph second hand came came loose just after he purchased it. His watch repairman fixed it and thought it would loosen up over time. This must be a design issue. I'll to my repairman. Thanks for responding.

Yes, on a mechanical movement, you have to pop the hand off and re-set it.

Not a big deal, so it should not cost much unless the watch has to be re-certified for diving (which requires all new seals and a depth test)...
