Often, but not always. Sometimes there is mechanical blockage of the fork, or in the gear train.

Welcome to the forum!
Is this a watch you have had for a while, or a new acquisition? A good cleaning and service may be in order.

Chris Radek, who first answered your question is one of the very well respected Accutron technicians that can service the watch, as well as identify faulty components.

Rob Berkavicius is another well respected Accutron technician.

There are others, but I can highly recommend both Chris and Rob as they have done outstanding work for me in the past.

I bought this watch in 1966. I had it serviced maybe 10 yrs. ago, but I think he just put in a 387s and cleaned it. It ran very fast for a couple of days and then quit.
