I removed the 2 jewels and clips from the top of the gear train plate/cover of my 214 to oil, but being they are so small, I can't tell when reinstalling, is it critical as to which direction they are placed, is there a difference as to the top and bottom of the jewel; so, does it matter which side goes up and or down?

Yes the flat side goes down. The oil should form a bubble and be held by the upward dome of the hole jewel and the flat of the cap jewel.
Thanks again Chris, it is very hard to tell the flat side from the other, even with a microscope. It is hard for me to position the very small jewel on its side to determine which is the flat side but I will keep trying,,,
