That is not a tuning fork watch as I'm sure you know. It would be worth quite a bit more if it was a tuning fork watch, not much demand for quartz. I can certainly understand wanting to get it going, I would too with that history, so I hope somebody here can advise you how to get it repaired. My guess is that you may have to find one with the same movement in running condition and then switch movements.

 

It must be a pretty simple job for a decent watch repairer to replace the quartz movement.
Same goes for the band. It really says Bulova Accutron Quartz?
I know the latest citizen Bulovas have started reusing the word accutron but did not realize Bulova did the same in the 70s.
Anyway you can get the case open? Would be interested in seeing the type of movement. Don't risk damaging it if you do not have the tools to do so.

 

Here are the only images of this watch that I could find online.....(not my watch). Mine is in 100% better condition, but yes is says Bulova Accutron Quartz. I have instructed the Bulova Canada Office to return my watch to me, with as much information about it as they can.

Yep, Bulova sure did capitalize on the Accutron name right away. A two letter "Day" is a dead giveaway in that era that a Quartz movement is inside.

 

So is it possible to obtain an original 'Bulova' Quartz day date movement?
If so it should be an easy repair.
I assume the quartz movements are disposable.

Being of that age, it is quite possible that it has a 242.3 movement in it. As far as I know, that was a Bulova movement, unique to themselves. It was actually made to be repaired as opposed to being replaced with a new movement.

Ok, here is a link to a watch similar to yours being sold by Ludmil. He includes a good movement shot. If you can open/get opened the case back you could compare the movements and know what to look for if sourcing a movement or you could contact Ludmil and ask him if he could service your watch.

Nice just be done with it and buy that one from Ludmil.
If as Sam notes yet are meant to be repaired then Ludmil would be a good starting point.

 

I followed the link, the watch shown is the same as mine except for the color of the face/hands. I don't see any of the images with the back removed from that ebay watch, but I managed to remove the back off of mine!
Here is what I have found....again I am sorry about the terrible images...Blackberry just doesn't measure up.
The back bezel is stamped as follows: 8112 stamped inside back panel in rectangular box. Swiss below the rectangle.
The printing on the Movement, behind 2PM I think reads" Unadjusted No3 Jewels" Just above the accutron "Fork symbol. BULOVA and SWISS are printed in Black on the brass above and below the cut out section behind 6PM

The numbers under the battery are 242310.

 

The 8112 is the case number, and the movement is a 242.3
