Hello all,

I came across this watch and would like to know if anyone can give me a little info on it. Is 'Longine' a 'Longines' forgery, a different company or something else. Sorry that the pictures aren't that very good, the crystal is fairly scratched. At the top of the face is written 'longine 213 Electra' and at the bottom is written 'LIFETIME MAINSPRING'. The top stem rotates the outer ring with names of different world cities (time zones), the middle stem sets the time and date and winds the watch and the bottom stem rotates the the second ring. It is a fairly substantial watch weighing 87.3 grams (including band) and measuring 4.5 cm across at the crown and 12 mm thick. The watch winds and runs.

Thanks in advance,
Bruce

I've come across this watch (Longine 213 Electra) before on a couple sites. Absolutely no one knows how to take a picture of it larger than 200 X 200 so don't feel bad...you're not alone.

The evidence points to "Longine" being an Oriental company hoping to cash in on the fame of the real Swiss manufacture. With companies like this, the target demographic is someone who knows the name but is not familiar with knowing the difference between the good and the not-so-good. Giant department stores and factory outlets were good places to buy brands like this.

CometHunter,

Thank you for the response. I figured that it was some sort of knock off. I knew it wasn't Longines quality or look, but was really just curious. Thanks again...
