I need a bit of advice: I'm looking for a watch for my father-in-law but the watch that is right for him is outside of what I am familiar with. He needs a dive style watch that he can wear for all occasions (he is a casual kind of guy, a retired boilermaker). He is also going through chemo and has been losing weight. I initially bought him what *I* thought he should have, a Seiko SKX009, but it turns out it is not right for him. He is losing weight and it is too big and heavy for him. He is no fuss, not interested in anything but a watch that he can wear in the water and never worry about. So I was thinking a 40mm quartz diver would be best for him. This is not a size of a type of watch I have ever looked a lot at so thought I would get some advice.
So, any suggestions for a:
- Dive watch
- Analogue
- Quartz
- Not bracelet (too much weight) - so rubber/NATO etc
- No larger than 40mm
- Colour is ok but prob classic enough that can be worn out casual dining (e.g. Pepsi, blue dial, white dial etc but not bright coloured dial)
- And for me, a brand I can live with buying even though it is a quartz
