    Default A 24 Hour Accutron?

I'd been considering adding a 24 hour watch to my collection -- a true 24 hour watch, where the hour hand only goes around the dial once per day, and I recently stumbled upon this ad for a 24 hour Accutron:
https://www.unwindintime.com/product...ss-steel-watch I actually saw it early enough I could have gotten it, but I'm not aware enough of the scarcity of that watch to have considered the price he was selling it for. The listing states it is a "custom" watch, which led me to believe it was one of a kind. However, I then did some looking, which of course led me to Rob B's superior site, where he said there was a regular 24 hour variant of the 218 movement. So I was wondering, was that Accutron for sale a real unique piece, or are there more true 24 hour Accutrons in the wild out there that I just need to keep an eye out for? An Accutron 24 hour watch would be just what I am looking for.

As the ad says, it is a custom piece. That dial is found on 24 hour bulova accutron timers. The timers were used in various military applications like space/aviation. Normally 24 hour dials are flat, but I have seen a photo of a convex dial so I am curious if others think there are any legit 24 hour wrist watch accutrons. As far as the insides go, the accutron astronaut has all of the same wheels/parts as the standard battery operated timers. Timers sometimes have additional parts for day counters and exterior power.

The advertisement for the watch has the case stamped 2446. According to a post on WTF by Spaceview M2, the 2446 caseback was for models 213 and 214 Accutrons which were not 24 hour watches and I seriously doubt that they had a hack movement as the watch in the ad has. I agree with uscjake87 in that I have never seen a 24 hour Accutron. It is a very nice looking watch though if you want to spend that kind of money on a custom accutron.

Huh. OK then. I think I know now what I need to be on a search for if I want a 24 hour Accutron of my own.

If making your own, NOS wheels and parts to add the 24 hour function are expensive on their own. Its best to get a beat up astronaut. Some ebay sellers have a 24 hour dial, but they are too big to fit in normal accutron cases. You also have the issue of flat vs convex dials. A flat dial wont work.

Dial expertly refinished! I like it! Wish I knew who refinished the dial.

Pretty sure on one mission the astronauts wore Speedys on their arm and had an accutron timer in the instrument panel. This, from recollection only, as I read it in an accutron story once? Please correct me if I have it wrong.
