1969, comes on an original tropic strap which is 1mm shy but it still looks good.

So the Swiss variant has the different hand set? My 69 AB has a different Alpha hand set and the tuning fork sweep second hand

The swiss variants don't have an advertisement that I can find when I checked mybulova. The closest thing is the automatic snorkel J watch. The hour/minute handset is listed under the 214 as "crawl" and the second hand listed under bulova automatics as "ball."

Thanks for posting the hands reference uscjake87, now I can call them by their proper names. Where do you find this stuff?!

I posted this link in the sticky post, but here it is again for high res copies: https://imgur.com/a/Jqdyibj. A nice gent in the facebook group posted them a while back.

I’m familiar with the J variant. Do we think these hands are original to the piece? Given Bulova’s history with odd things, it’s not unlikely. But as nobody has an advertisement, it’s worth asking. Have you listed it on MyBulova yet?

Another was posted on mybulova, which is where the snorkel J came up. I have enough photographs of these variants to believe it isn't just somebody swapping hands on them. I would say with certainty there is a "swiss" variant of the watch since the dials are marked as such. As far as how many hand variations there are is unknown. I posted it on another FB page and the gent replied with this picture:

The Deep Sea "A" is an example of different hand options. I can't say I have seen the orange ball hand on a watch for sale, yet they exist in the ads and I have seen the packaging for the hands. The hand reference I posted earlier doesn't show a "ball" seconds hand for accutrons, but you see it strapped on the watch in two ads. Deep Sea and Snorkel watches seem to have a lot of mish/mash of hands/bezels. You got a few concrete ads to help guide what the USA black vs red/black bezel variants should have on them, but the european models are different.

I’ve wondered about this photos as well. The ball sweep hand in particular. I wonder if it was pre production photos, or something similar, a prototype mock-up?

Definitely was a "parts bin" mishmash on these divers.

I'd love to find a print ad example of a 781 with a count up bezel and ball hand. That way I wouldn't feel so guilty about what's going to happen on my next project...
