Default Need input on fixing an Aquaracer

I have a CAF2012 Aquaracer. Sometime ago I cracked the crystal. I pocket carry a knife and I am certain that putting it in a drawer where the watch was I accidentally tossed the knife which hit the corner of the crystal. I have never dropped the watch.

Ben Bridge jewelers quoted $965 to get it fixed and included a bunch of work which I am not sure I need. Can I get a local smaller jewler to replace the crystal or send it to Tag to have fix it?them do it cheaper? TIA for your input.

It sounds like you were quoted for a complete overhaul & pressure test along with replacing that crystal and i agree in that I dont think its worth that kind of $$$. Note to that the 'jeweler' is only a middle man in this repair and they'll want their cut of the action too which likely added to the cost. Find a local watch repair guy and let them replace the crystal. Just doing a google search for 'watch repair shop in Iowa' came up with 3 local choices (2 in Des Moines and 1 in Sioux City) and I'm sure there are others. One of our regular contributors (SFwatchGuy) is in that general area and perhaps he can recommend someone.

Gunderson Jewelry in Sioux City does quality work. I have no idea what the cost would be but they will provide an estimate before any work is done.

Do you know anything about "The Watch Whisperer Watch Sales, Service & Repair" in Sioux City ? If you go to their website, their repair guy looks like a watch expert...

Thanks all. Appreciate the advice. I just updated my profile. Just moved back to Washington State, Vancouver area. I’ll find someone local
