    I measure the length of the old finger and attach the new one at the same length. If the complete finger is missing I'll take the length of another fork to start with. After mounting the fork together with pawl finger and index wheel you may have to adjust the length of the finger a little bit. This is not a problem as long as the pin has not been cut.

    Except that when a watchmaker makes a mistake he has to eat the cost of redoing a repair.

    Yeah, some "bits" aren't replaceable like they are in watches...

    Jackdaniels83 - that is quite impressive re-pinning a finger WITH the stress relief finger too! I have special jigs I made to do these and even with these it is not an easy thing to do. As it is mostly early forks and f300 forks I do, they don't have a stress relief finger which does make it easier. Still not easy either!

    Thanks a lot. I'm just using tweezers and a stereo microscope to do the job. It is taking time and steady hands.
