Without looking inside, I'll guess it's an automatic. Bulova frequently used 23j movements made in their Swiss factory and then imported to the US to be installed in cases at their New York plant. Caravelle was sometimes used as a "value alternative" to the regular Bulova line. Seeing so many still around is a testament to the quality & durability of the line. Even my watchmaker says their 23j pieces are good buys. They did make other nice ebauches, but without seeing under the hood I'm going with the odds on favorite for the internals. Nice specimen you have there!

    Thank you my friend,

I guess I'll have to open it up to find out...
It's a mechanical movement, that much I know and it keeps excellent time.
Any idea what a original bracelet would look like for this model?

Speidel flex-bands were frequently paired with Bulova watch heads. At the time, it was a dealer option. You could select from a wide variety of bands at the store you made your purchase from and they would install it then & there.
