    Default Oysterquartz redeux

I had a brain block & flipped a black dial Oysterquartz. I found this silver dial about ten days ago. I think this is Rolex's best case design. it certainly is the best & most comfortable bracelet design IMHO. I even like the loud click of the seconds hand.:)

Default Nice watch...some info on how the 17000 Oysterquartz design came to be..

A few years before the 17000 model was sold, the 1530 was a working prototype for the final model of the Oysterquartz design. Notice the simularties between the models.

Strange watch the 1530 Date was:
Modern case with a 1570 caliber, small 5.3 mm crown, sapphire crystal, 20 mm lugs (not the 19 mm size found on Dates), built only in the early to mid 1970's and at the time very unpopular with customers.

The 1530 Date was built as a working prototype case for the Rolex Oysterquartz 17000 model which arrived later.
As time went on the 1980 quartz movement craze was in full steam and the 17000 model was introduced with the 1530 case which now housed the new and deadly accurate quartz caliber.
Not may 1530 were made, a true Rolex vintage collector's watch.

    Default Love my Oysterquartz!

The Oysterquartz is the Rodney Dangerfield of Rolex watches. However, I think they are a thing of beauty and a technological marvel! This is my 17013. and it is dead-on accurate twenty years later.
