I mean Rolex will price themselves out of the core market..Increasing prices in a down turn economic world economy is not logical in my opinion.

I just can't believe this!! I bought a Ladies Bi Metal Datejust for my wife about 15 months ago and if these price rises are correct - and looking at the recent past it seems highly likely - that watch will have been subject to a price increase of nearly 25%. I have always admired Rolex but have never found one that I felt comfortable with but let's be honest they are a good watch that is well built (although I have always found that their bracelets are not very comfortable) but are relatively mass produced. What Rolex do have is their name and an absolutely fantastic marketing department. I thought that perhaps things had slowed down for them recently because they have just started advertising on TV over here in the UK but I am obviously wrong. They may find however that if they keep on with this relentless policy of large price increases twice a year people will start to look more closely at what they are getting for their money and they could be in trouble.
but they also raised service prices.
