    Default PAM 005 or 111

In your opinions, which would you choose for a first PAM, the 005 or 111? Is the clear back worth the extra $900 (approx) for the 111 or is the logo front of the 005 a must?

That really depends if you want a sandwich or painted dial. The logo on the 5 carries a lot of Panerai dna, but the Panerai is also known for their nice clean dial that the 111 has, either one is a winner, I say try them both on and get the one that makes you smile.

Painted is just like what it means the numbers and markers are painted on the dial, that's the 5 .

Sandwich dial: This refers to the process that Panerai uses on some of their dials. The luminous material is pasted onto a bottom disk, and then the dial, with numerals already cut into it, is pressed on top of the luminous material. Modern examples of this can be seen on the 111, 112, 219.....

If you look at the the picture at the top of this page, that's a 111 and that's a sandwich dial. If you try on the 5 and 111 look at the dials closely and you'll see what I mean.

    Hope this helps

Thanks, now I get it. Over time which one would last longer in your opinion? Which is better?

Their the same luminova, I actually prefer the sandwich dial. As far as which one will last, who the heck knows, its actually how you treat the watch.

If you talking about the Luminova it really doesnt make a difference with either. Both will have the same lifespan.

I think you gotta go with the sandwich dial and the exhibition caseback.

I'd go with the 112 before the 005, I think.

I used to lean more towards the Zero and 05, lately though the sandwich dial has gotten my attention. It I where to get a PAM I would likely go sandwich, so unique and well done. Quick search and this pulled up, the last two towards the bottom might some up some of your questions. http://watchesandreviews.com/Panerai.html
I am big fan of the 1950 case, which neither of your choices have. Panerai has some many great subtle variations, best of luck.
