Up for sale is this funkiest of luxury Vintage Rolex, the discontinued reference 19018 Oysterquartz Day-Date President in 18k Yellow Gold with factory Burled Walnut dial and unique integrated OQ hidden-clasp bracelet. This watch has a 6.40mil SN (ca. 1980) and has never been polished. This single-quick Oysterquartz Prez is in overall Excellent condition and running perfectly and the rare wood dial is absolutely Near Mint. This dial is 100% Rolex Factory correct or your money back. CASE & BACK: Unique angular 36mm x 42mm 18k case is in overall Excellent unpolished condition with some superficial scratches to the mirrored sides but sharp chamfers and crisp satin grain to the top lugs. SN & model #s on the underside of the lugs are crisp and legible, as are all correct gold hallmarks and REGISTERED DESIGN. The outer caseback has likewise never been polished, showing its original machining to the flat part of the back (covered by a clear sticker); Excellent to Near Mint external condition. Inside, the back has all correct hallmarks and the correct generic 19000 reference and is corrosion free.

DIAL & HANDS: Absolutely Near Mint pristine Rolex factory Burled Walnut dial with gilt print under lacquer and applied gold frames to the day and date apertures and applied gold stick markers at 5-minute/second intervals. It is rare enough to find a correct Oysterquartz wood dial but even more difficult to find one with the lacquer almost 100% free from crazing, all gilt print bright beneath it and the red-brown burled walnut still presenting as warmly & richly as the dashboard of a Jag. I can only find one or two extremely small flaws to the surface and the applied coronet under my 14x loupe, so that’s why by my tough standards I’m calling it Near Mint. On the wrist, though, it’s really perfect. Original gold stick hour & minute and baton seconds hands are Very Good with a small loss of lume to the hour hand and a few very minor scratches most probably from prior service.

CROWN: The signed gold Rolex Twinlock crown screws down properly and pulls out to the single quickset (date only) position and hacking time setting position, as it should.

CRYSTAL: The sapphire Cyclops crystal is in Excellent condition with a few very small chips between 12 & 2.

BEZEL: Classic Rolex 18k fluted bezel is Excellent with only superficial scratches and no dings.

MOVEMENT: Rolex caliber 5055, widely considered the Rolls Royce of quartz movements. Although I don’t know the watch’s service history, it is running flawlessly, the double day-date change is instantaneous at midnight and timekeeping is, well, absolutely quartz accurate. The day is quickset and the movement hacks when in the time setting position.

BRACELET/BAND: Unique 18k YG angular hidden clasp Oysterquartz bracelet in Excellent condition with just a few scratches and some scuffs to the polished center links. This bracelet has all correct hallmarks and has four screwed links and should fit a wrist of up to 7 1/2 inches comfortably, as it fits my 7 1/4 inch wrist with some slack.

I have not had the watch pressure tested so I make NO guarantees for water resistance but the beauty of most Oysters is that they are or can be made to be water resistant rather easily, if they aren’t already, and the sapphire models even more so.
