Question pre owned GMT with out box and papers

What is the general thoughts on a pre owned 2011 GMT without box and papers? Its from a reputable reseller. Looks like there is about $500 difference in price of identical watch with box and papers.

    Thanks Eddie

Doesn't matter, if it were purchased from an AD, it would have their box and papers. On the
other hand, if it were a watch that was known for their box, like the Corum - Bubble Privateer,
that would be a major influence.

For a $500 difference? IMHO, go for the papers and box. *IF* you ever decide to resell, some will not purchase without papers, some without papers and box, and some do not care at all. Others may even be ok with paperwork from a RSC that the watch was serviced on x date. It all depends. Given the price of the watch, the extra $500 seems worth it. Others will have varying opinions for sure.

I concur - boxes show up on secondary markets and can be replaced, but you're not going to replace the paperwork/cards which come with a Rolex. $1000.00 might make the difference for me, but not $500.00.

I am an original provenance freak. Just like my collector cars which all have bullet proof original paperwork, so do my modern watches. I just sold my GMT 1675 complete set that I bought new for $1500 more than everyone told me it was worth. I just bought a late model one owner 16520 SS Zenith Daytona with everything including the sales receipt. I don't plan on selling it, but that paperwork will make a huge difference IMO.

Ask 50 people, and you will more than likely get a 55/45 split. I would say slight edge to the Sub, whereas it is a "classic" timepiece. Ultimately, the decision is yours. What do you prefer? What clothes do you wear? Jeans? Business Casual, Suits? (Some would argue neither are for suits. I disagree.) Which watch do YOU feel looks better on you. Which watch do YOU feel is better with the clothes you are most likely to wear with it. Do you want a watch that is subtle like the Sub, or the numbers that POP OUT on the GMT? Decisions...decisisions...decisions.... Bottom line...whichever you prefer, you feel is best, and you think looks better. Don't let anyone else sway you otherwise.

Unless you are married. In which case, be prepared to explain the need to spend the $ on a watch. ;)
